About Human Resource Development

The Human Resource Development (HRD) Division of INFLIBNET Centre plays a key role in strengthening the professional, technological, and digital capabilities of the academic and library community. The Division conducts around 30 in-house training programmes and workshops annually, along with several on-site and collaborative programmes, benefiting over 1,000 participants across the country each year. The HRD Division offers capacity-building programmes in areas such as library automation, ICT, digital technologies, research support, and other emerging fields. Besides its regular training activities, the Division also conducts short-term and long-term specialized training programmes of varying duration, designed to meet the specific requirements of users and institutions. Its flagship initiatives include the INFLIBNET Regional Training Programmes on Library Automation (IRTPLA) and major professional conventions such as CALIBER . and PLANNER


By combining capacity building with digital transformation, the HRD Division continues to promote efficient, transparent, and data-driven management of training programmes while supporting the continuous professional development of the academic and library community.

SOUL Installation & Operations Training Programmes

Installation, Customization and Hosting Services

The Centre offers installation, customization and hosting services for academic and government institute libraries to establish institutional repository and automation, using open source software such as DSpace and E-print at very reasonable charges.

Collaborative Trainings/Workshops

The Centre conducts five-day IRTPLA (INFLIBNET Regional Training Programme on Library Automation) for the benefit of IT/LIS professionals across the country in collaboration with universities, wherein local language is used for effective communication. Registration fee is not charged from the participants, since the Centre provides financial assistance to universities to hold the programme. The programme covers various aspects of ILMS Software, both theory and practical, required for implementation of automation and networking of the libraries. The Centre also conducts Workshops in collaboration with universities on open source software to equip participants with skills for developing and managing their own digital collection, and also to create awareness of new developments in the field of library and information science — such as managing information sources in a digital environment, building institutional repositories, using networking and social media, management of e-resources, and the latest developments and trends in LIS. On-site Training Programmes (SOUL 3.0)

The Centre organises in-house training programmes as per requirement of SOUL users at their university/college/institute premises, subject to a minimum and maximum of 5 to 25 participants, on a payment basis. For more details please visit SOUL Training Details

Attachment Training Programme for Practicing Library Professionals

The Centre organises the Attachment Training Programme (ATP) for practicing library professionals, of four weeks duration. ATP consists of four levels covering various topics such as the basics of computer science, library automation, digitization using open source software, and network management. Training Programmes/Workshops @ INFLIBNET Centre
