About Human Resource Development & Consultancy

Imparting training to manpower working in the University and College libraries, in the use of ICT is one of the most important objectives of the Centre, which is given due priority. 946 training programmes, workshops and seminars focusing on the library automation and networking have so far been conducted till 31st December, 2023 benefitting 97246 participants from across the country. INFLIBNET Regional Training Programme on Library Automation (IRTPLA) is one of the popular training programmes organized by the Group in collaboration with colleges and universities regularly. User Awareness Training Programmes on e-resources subscribed under the eShodhSindhu project are being conducted across the country in collaboration with the universities. Besides, the Centre also conducts short-term and long-term specialized training programmes of variable duration depending upon the requirements of users. National and international conventions called PLANNER in North-eastern regions and International CALIBER in various states in India are being organized biannually as regular activity of the Centre. The Centre has also conducted 158 Training Programmes on SOUL Installation and Operations for Libraries.

Installation, Customization and Hosting Services

The Centre offers installation, customization and hosting services for academic and government institute libraries to establish institutional repository and automation, using open source software such as DSpace and E-print at very reasonable charges.

Collaborative Trainings/Workshops

The Centre conducts five-day IRTPLA (INFLIBNET Regional Training Programme on Library Automation) for the benefit of IT/LIS professionals across the country in collaboration with universities, wherein local language is used for effective communication. Registration fee is not charged from the participants, since the Centre provides financial assistance to universities to hold the programme. The programme covers various aspects of ILMS Software, both theory and practical, required for implementation of automation and networking of the libraries. The Centre also conducts Workshop in collaboration with universities on open source software to equip participants with skills for developing and managing their own digital collection and also to create awareness in new developments in the field of library and information science like managing information sources in a digital environment, building institutional repository, using networking and social media, management of e-resources, latest development and trends in LIS. On-site Training Programmes (SOUL 3.0)

Attachment Training Programme for Practicing Library Professionals

The Centre organises Attachment Training Programme (ATP) for practicing library professionals of four weeks duration. ATP consists of four levels on various topics such as basic of computer science, library automation, digitization using open source software and network management.
